Materials Technical Centre(MTC) was established by DENSO International Asia Pte Ltd (DIAS) in 1999, with the main objective of contributing to group companies in Asia and Australia through its materials engineering activities. MTC is well equipped to conduct a wide range of materials evaluation such as analytical characterization, mechanical and metallurgical evaluations, chemical analysis, and corrosion and durability tests.
Two of MTC key activities are materials localization such that common materials are centrally procured from suppliers located near to the group companies, and joint materials development with these suppliers. MTC plans to achieve 90% raw materials localization and 80% parts localization in the year 2006. In order to achieve localization, MTC will negotiate materials specification and evaluate trial materials from suppliers instead of DENSO headquarters in Japan. Through its materials engineering activities, MTC aims to help the group companies in producing good quality products at reduced cost that will be competitive in the market.
