Receiver

The receiver temporarily stores refrigerant liquefied by the condenser, in order to supply the necessary volume.

The refrigerant may not be sufficiently liquefied after being cooled by the condenser, due to factors such as the ambient air conditions. The refrigerant contains a mixture of gas and liquid, which decreases the atomization of liquid refrigerant supplied to the expansion valve. This causes a decrease in the cooling capacity.

The receiver contains a strainer and desiccant for removing moisture and dirt from the refrigeration cycle.

Moisture inside the refrigerantion cycle causes corrosion in the component parts, as well as clogging due to freezing inside the expansion valve.
